September 2023 Legislative Updates

AB 370, AB 393, AB 714, and AB 1170 have all made their way out of the legislature and onto the governor’s desk. These bills would create more equitable pathways for English learners to attain the State Seal of Biliteracy, build out better data processes for serving dual language learners in early education, empower educators to leverage data and other resources for meeting the needs of newcomers, and re-establish the Bilingual Teacher Professional Development Program. 

We want to thank everyone who worked to advocate for these bills, especially our partners who co-sponsored legislation with us: California Association of Bilingual Education (AB 370, AB 1127, AB 393) and California Early Edge (AB 393).
