All California districts have adopted a screener for reading difficulties to be addressed to all Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade students this 2025-26 school year. It is critical that these tools support, not hinder multilingual learners. This session will share considerations for implementation in English medium and biliteracy programs. Strategic planning and implementation of these screeners by Azusa Unified School Districts will be shared along with insights from the recent publication, Considerations and Suggestions When Adopting a Reading Difficulties Screener for Multilingual Learners.
