Dr. Jennifer Yacoub is an advocate who is making an impact in the Central Valley. Jennifer was selected last year to be part of the 2021 EL Advocacy Institute organized by the English Learner Leadership and Legacy Initiative (ELLLI), a project of Californians Together. She has a long history of advocating for English learners, 28 years in fact! Her dedication to ensure that English learners are getting the best educational support possible has been at the heart of her work as a teacher, school principal, and district administrator and in her current role the Director of Student Programs in the Delhi Unified School District. This year she and her colleague, Senior Director Francisco Romo, are leading a newly formed Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program Taskforce (launched Oct. 25). The taskforce is truly a collaborative effort, made up of both internal and external educational partners. Jennifer hopes that the DLI Taskforce will give participants a place for reflection, review and response to address the needs for strengthening and aligning their Dual Language Program across the district.
“I believe that every child deserves the best education with a focus on building their character, confidence and self-reliance as they learn to proactively and productively be a part of the global community.” – Jennifer Yacoub, Ed.D
