New Law Removes Barriers for California English Learners

From reclassifying students too soon to denying students the opportunity to reclassify, and take advanced coursework, California’s reclassification system has long served as a barrier to English learners. A new law, AB 2555, seeks to simplify the system and enable students to reclassify in a more timely fashion. Californians Together Executive Director Martha Hernandez spoke to Los Angeles Magazine about what this means for our state’s English learners.
