New data on English learners could help California schools pinpoint needed support, experts say

How well are California schools supporting English learners to become English proficient? For the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, communities can answer that question. New data shows that that 13.8% of English learners statewide met the requirements to reclassify in 2024-25.
