Preventing Long Term English Learners: Building a Strong Foundation for Academic Success From Pre-K through Elementary School

A symposium targeted for county, district and school site leadership teams to learn about the research on Long Term English Learners, focusing on what happensalong the schooling journey from preschool through elementary schoolthat results in students who cease progressing towards English proficiency and struggle academically despite having been in our schools for many years. Information will be shared on who the students are, what we know about their needs and how to design effective  programs and services and examples of high quality instruction to meet the needs of these students.

Presenters:  Dr. Laurie Olsen, Author Reparable Harm, and Dr. Margarita Calderon, Professor Emeritus and Research Scientist. The symposium is scheduled for November 16, 2011 and will be held at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. To register online, please click here.
