A symposium targeted for county, district and school site leadership teams to learn about
the research on Long Term English Learners, focusing on what happens along the schooling journey from preschool through elementary school that results in students who cease progressing towards English proficiency and struggle academically despite having been in our schools for many years.
Information will be shared on who the students are, what we know about their needs and how to design effective programs and services and examples of high quality instruction to meet the needs of these students.
Presenters: Dr. Laurie Olsen, Author Reparable Harm, and Dr. Margarita Calderon, Professor Emeritus and Research Scientist
The symposium is scheduled for May 25, 2011 and will be held at Almansor Court Banquets and Restaurant in Alhambra, California.
