Implementing The State Seal of Biliteracy

This webinar from West Ed, Schools Moving Up Series, gives an overview of the Seal of Biliteracy with examples from school district that have implemented the provides.  It provides excellent support for the development of a district Seal of Biliteracy Program.

The objectives of this webinar are to:

  • Encourage the spread of the Seal of Biliteracy
  • Provide direction for designing and planning to implement a Seal of Biliteracy and/or pathway awards appropriate to your local context
  • Acquaint participants with California’s new State Seal of Biliteracy and California Department of Education resources for implementation

Common Core and English Learners Workshop

“Academic English for English Learners Through the Listening and Speaking Common Core Standards” Grades 4 -12

The Common Core Listening and Speaking Standards provide opportunities for active student engagement through oral language development.  This session will present scaffolding strategies to provide English learners support and access to these standards.  The session will focus on building academic language essential to the Common Core Standards.  Through interactive participation, viewing and reflecting on video lessons, participants will leave with knowledge of the standards and instructional strategies unique to the language and academic needs of English learners.

State Seal of Biliteracy and Local District Biliteracy Pathway Awards Implementation Workshop – February 28, 2012

To assist districts and agencies inimplementing the State  Seal ofBiliteracy  Recognition, we havescheduled a workshop in Southern California on February 28, 2012. We encourage district teams withan English Learner coordinator, curriculum specialist, board members, siteadministrators and teacher leaders to register.
